Lasers are very useful for me as they can help me work out whether a cell has a virus in it or not. I make a special virus that is green and then infect cells with it. To see if the cells are infected I shine a laser at them which shows up the green. The most useful laser for me is a blue laser.

Wow, great question! I had to think about this one…

I really like green lasers – they look so bright, because the eye is most sensitive to light at that wavelength. But I think my favourite laser was a little alignment laser I had in my last project in Vienna – it had a wavelength of around 470 nm and was an amazing pure, bright cyan blue colour.

      Cheers,
      Nathan.

      Hey scottkingsley,

I’m going to differ with Nathan and Harriet and say that I like red lasers the best! This is the colour of the lasers that we use on the Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) in the deep sea. The lasers on our robots are fixed perfectly 10cm apart so that when they shine onto whatever we are looking at in the deep sea, the laser points are also exactly 10cm apart. This means that we can use these two laser points as a gauge of how large animals or whatever we are looking at is as we can compare it to the 10 cm.
