DNA is passed from generation to generation.

And therefore, your parents will have 50% from each of your grandparents. And you will have 50% of your parents.

And so, you will have 25% each from your grandparents.

Yep, good answer. You get all your DNA directly from your parents, but since they got theirs from their parents, in the end, you got yours in smaller amounts from your grandparents too.

Both Nathan and Allan have hit the nail on the head. 50% of your DNA each from mum and dad but they in turn would have gotten their DNA from their parents, so you have 25% from each of your grandparents. Even though, you inherit your DNA, you are still your own self as no one else in the world will have your exact combination of DNA. Also, occasionally mutations in DNA can occur and this generates new DNA – again, making your DNA even more individual. Don’t worry though, most of the time nothing scary occurs from these mutations!
