People are not sure exactly what is at the centre of our galaxy but it seems to be a dense massive object. Lots of people think it is a super-massive black hole (hundreds-thousands of billions of times heavier than a star).

Lots of galaxies have black holes at the centre of them…

      Hey drbrains,

Scientists from NASA discovered in 2002 that there is a supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy. We know its thee because the orbits of stars near the centre of the galaxy act as if something massive is present but there is no light at the centre indicating a black hole.
