It is simply because humans are mammals.

However, there are some slight difference in the “face layout” between mammals.

For example, platypus resembles more like ducks, with long beaks or elephants with long trunks (or nose).

The closest face to which humans resemble are monkeys; because humans and monkeys are classified in the same “order” – which is Primates.

All primates are mammals but not all primates are mammals. So the evolutionary and physiological difference is much closer between primates than from one mammal to another mammal.

As Allan said, humans are mammals – don’t forget!
